La narrativa visual del director de fotografía ecuatoriano en la creación de cortometrajes

The present research work starts from the need to know the state of visual narrative, of the short films produced by students from the different universities in Quito. As a result, producing a pilot video tutorial that teaches direction of photography and supports and improves visual communication. The study starts from the basic elements of the visual narrative, its application and methods. It defines the functions and responsibilities of the director of photography in each productions process, the use of illumination and the elements that helps him to drive appropriately his department. Later, it briefly reviews the cinema and short films Ecuadorian history, defining the minimum crew required to produce by an efficient way that product. This research will improve short films creation, analyzing one of the principal tools inside of the final product that is the photography. This way, it will be more understandable and interesting. The directors of photography will benefit from a better understanding of the tools that they can use in the visual narrative, avoiding the improvisation throughout the process, allowing them a more effective work.
