| Тойм: | The waste from hydrocarbon activities are one of the most toxic and polluting residues that exist today, one of them corresponds to the sediments of the hydrocarbon tank bottoms, which are generated during the storage of crude oil during extraction processes, transportation and refinement. It is because of this that different treatments are presented for this waste including bioremediation techniques, which use the degradative capacity of microorganisms as a method to degrade this type of waste, one of them being composting. This document presents a comparison of the composting technique with other treatment techniques used for this type of substance, comparing its efficiency in economic, technological, social and environmental perspectives, in addition to a compilation of experiences using this technique in this waste and its results with other experiences of biological treatments. After making this comparison and gathering information and experiences, it was possible to obtain better results in terms of efficiency and shorter treatment times by composting compared to other biological treatment techniques and their compliance with regulations. Also the bibliographic research allowed to identify composting, along with the other biological techniques, as the most viable alternative in terms of price, since it does not involve as much investment as thermal treatments or civil works, additionally it was concluded that biological treatment techniques are friendly in environmental and social issues due to the conditions they need for their application and their absence, generation of secondary pollution sources. In conclusion, it was possible to show that composting turned out to be the most appropriate technique in different aspects to be applied to the treatment of sediments from the bottoms of hydrocarbon tanks. |
