Es por ello, que se busca evaluar el impacto que la coyuntura en la que se produjeron las protestas de octubre tuvo en el discurso histórico del movimiento indígena, y en qué medida, este cambio produjo divisiones al interior de la CONAIE, así como los efectos que este giro del discurso causó en las relaciones entre indígenas y la población mestiza del Ecuador.
