Περίληψη:The objective of this research is to evaluate the impact that different digital dynamic processors have on the sonority of drums, specifically taking compression into kick and snare drums. The corresponding analysis was based on technical evaluations, related to design characteristics and the harmonic distortion of each compressor, these information are related with mixing criteria of musical instruments and with perceptual preferences of people who work with this type of devices. This study search to optimize the use of these audio processors, about specific musical instruments, in order to provide recommendations for the selection between these devices and their different uses. After tabulating all the data and doing the corresponding analysis, it can be deduced in a technical way, the reason why compressors like SSL are so valued for their sonority. However, the sound quality that can be obtained with a compressor does not only depend of the harmonic distortion of the processor, but also depends on different technical-sound and perceptual relations between the compressor and the musical instrument. In other words, each musical instrument can be better complemented with a specific compressor based on the characteristics and sound that we need to be achieved.
