সংক্ষিপ্ত:The research project entitled "Ergonomics in the work performance of employees in the administrative area of the Autonomous Decentralised Government of Chimbo canton, Bolivar province, year 2024" aimed to analyse how ergonomics affects the work performance of employees. Using a descriptive methodology and a mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative), 57 employees were surveyed to assess their job performance and the ergonomic conditions of their work environment. The results revealed that, although most employees perceive the ergonomic conditions as adequate, there are areas that require significant improvement, especially in the quality of furniture and lighting. Lack of training in ergonomics was evident, suggesting a lack of awareness of the importance of these practices for well-being and productivity. Poor ergonomic conditions, such as lack of adjustable chairs and inadequate lighting, were associated with health problems such as back pain and eyestrain, negatively affecting work performance. Although a weak positive correlation was observed between ergonomic conditions and job performance, other factors, such as motivation and organisational climate, were also identified as having a significant influence on employee performance. In conclusion, improving ergonomic conditions could increase comfort and efficiency at work, but it is crucial to address other organisational aspects as well. It is recommended to implement a comprehensive ergonomics programme that includes regular assessment of working conditions and continuous training in ergonomic practices
