Description
Summary:The present research focused on analyzing gender-based violence in partner relations of students of the sociology career of the Bolívar State University during the academic period from November 2022 to March 2023. The main objective was to determine the linkages of dependence, attachment, threats and manipulations that prove the existence of violence from the gender perspective. To this goal, various methodological steps have been taken. First, a comprehensive bibliographic review was carried out to theoretically underline gender-based violence in heterosexual couples. This allowed us to understand the inequal power dynamics and social norms that perpetuate male domination and female subordination. Subsequently, data was collected through questionnaires applied to sociology students. These questionnaires included questions related to emotional dependence, attachment, threats, manipulations, and signs of violence in their sentimental relationships. The results obtained were analyzed to identify patterns and manifestations of gender violence present in these relationships. The findings revealed that there are high levels of emotional dependence among students, as well as patterns of anxious and preventive attachment. These patterns of emotional bonding can contribute to unbalanced power dynamics and increase the risk of gender-based violence. In addition, various manifestations of violence, such as verbal violence, emotional manipulation, social isolation and excessive control, were identified. Based on these findings, relevant conclusions and recommendations were formulated. The proposed recommendations include strengthening education and awareness on gender-based violence, fostering healthy and equitable relationships, implementing intervention and support protocols, raising consciousness about the importance of consent, promoting interinstitutional collaboration and fostering ongoing research.
