Označite | Izvleček: | This research project evaluated the level of flood threat in the context of the irregular settlements present in the Lucha de los Pobres neighborhood, located in the Echeandía canton of the Bolívar province during the period from June to December 2022. The objectives contextualized the natural factors that influence the threat of flooding, the most vulnerable areas were determined, and risk reduction measures were proposed. The type of research applied is qualitative and descriptive, based on information obtained in the field, applied survey, topographic information and land use maps, evaluating the magnitude of the risk in the area. The methodology integrated multiple approaches to provide a rigorous analysis, as the INAMHI historical records were represented in the IDF curve. The hydrological modeling of the Soloma River was carried out with flood maps and identification of the most vulnerable area using ArcGIS, thus allowing the proposal of mitigation measures and risk management strategies that protect the safety of the inhabitants who are in an environment highly exposed to natural events. As results, thematic maps were obtained showing areas of high risk of flooding and the factors that contribute to this threat such as the topography of the terrain, geographical characteristics and climatic conditions. According to the results, it is proposed to implement emergency contingency and evacuation plans. risk because the neighborhood is settled irregularly, near the riverbed on the banks of the Soloma River.
