| Summary: | In this research work we addressed issues on the deconstruction of gender roles and their influence on responsible fatherhood, taking into account that the care of children is mostly delegated to mothers, which is why the need arises to inquire about responsible fatherhood to find out how committed men are to the care of infants. In some sectors of Ecuador, the ideology that a responsible father is one who provides economic resources to his family is maintained. These tendencies remained in society for a long time. Since masculinity is defined as a social construct, it responds to historical, social, political, and economic contexts. According to studies carried out by Ortega, Torres and Salguero, a man can take care of his children and at the same time develop in the best possible way at work, since these are not areas that should be chosen over others. Children are beings that depend more on their parents during their first years of life, so it is essential that fathers participate most of this time but this does not mean that as they grow up the work of a father will be unbounded, a father will always be a father. This work aims to clarify whether there is in the city of Guaranda the deconstruction of gender roles in responsible parenthood, through this research we want to demonstrate that there is a direct link between the deconstruction of gender roles and responsible parenthood. In this project a mixed research of descriptive scope was conducted using as a research tool the structured interview and the survey. Key words: gender, gender stereotypes, family structure, patriarchy, masculinities. |
