| Izvleček: | This research project is entitled "Application of the nursing process in patients with depression, according to the Hildegard E. Peplau model, compared with the application of the process without the Peplau model in the Abel Gilbert Pontón hospital, period January-May 2021". Objective: To apply the nursing care process in patients with depression, according to the model of Hildegard E. Peplau, in the Abel Gilbert Pontón Hospital and specific objectives are established; carry out the nursing assessment applying the Virginia Henderson model, design the nursing care plan with the NANDA, NIC and NOC methodology based on the Hildegard E. Peplau model, implement and evaluate the designed nursing care plan, establish differences and similarities between the patients who apply the Nursing Plan based or not on the psychodynamic model of Hildegart Peplau. Methodology: the cross-sectional quantitative and comparative methodology is used, whose population is 15 users to whom the assessment guide adapted to the 14 needs of Virginia Henderson is applied under the approach of Hildegard E. Peplau, in turn, the plan is applied nurse with the model and without the nursing model to later evaluate and compare the results. Results: Regarding the need for elimination, 66% of the patients have presented digestive symptoms such as constipation, gas and urinary disorders. 80% have presented decreased appetite, nausea, however, 66% report eating alone. Regarding the need to dress, 66.7% maintain a neglected appearance, manage to fall asleep with difficulty, usually rest between 4 to 6 hours, and almost always report having drowsiness. 40% show sadness, 27% show delusional / confused and 53% show a boring conversation, difficult to establish adequate communication. Conclusions: specific alterations can be considered within the 14 needs of Virginia Henderson the following; need for feeding, dressing and undressing, elimination, sleep / rest, and communication. Once the health problems are prioritized, 9 nursing diagnoses are proposed, with the NANDA, NIC, NOC methodology with and without the Hildegar Peplau model to be applied and subsequently evaluated with the SOAP method. XIII The application of the nursing plan in patients with depressive syndrome is statistically significant, since the results of the paired samples test are less than 0.05 probability. The particular in relation to the nursing plan with the Hildegard Peplau model and without the model, is that the first turns out to be much more alternative and comprehensive while the second seeks to improve the patient by minimizing physical problems with technical and pharmaceutical assistance.
