| Özet: | Preventing Jehovah’s Witnesses from receiving blood transfusions or blood products for religious reasons is a moral and legal enigma, involving both believers and their families and treating doctors. In the Bible, in both the Old and New Testaments there are biblical passages that allude to abstaining from blood out of respect for God; which are based on the commands of Genesis chapter nine verse four, Leviticus chapter seventeen verse ten, Deuteronomy chapter twelve verse twenty-three, and Acts chapter fifteen verses twenty- eight and twenty-nine. Currently, there are still health professionals who consider alternative methods to replace a blood transfusion very risky, despite finding studies in recent years that have shown good results. The nature of the matter places the right to life at variance with the right to freedom of worship or religion, both rights recognized and guaranteed in our current Constitution; because, they are put to the test by rejecting a vital survival treatment. For this reason, it is important to find a respectful solution for Jehovah’s Witnesses to their decision not to allow the medical blood transfusion procedure, without violating their right to profess their beliefs and taking into consideration the provisions of the Constitution to guarantee the life of all their citizens including Jehovah's Witnesses. The methodology to be used is mixed; since, it is necessary to investigate and interpret the system in relation to the fundamental rights in conflict; as well as, the jurisprudence and doctrine that these norms integrate. Through interviews and surveys, it is sought to identify the need to know the religious reasons to justify the perspective of believers and relate the use of alternative methods to blood transfusion. 5 As a result, a coherent solution is sought based on the principle of autonomy, through consent and the use of other clinical strategies to avoid blood transfusions.
