| Crynodeb: | Among the agricultural items grown in the country is hard yellow corn, whose production is destined for the livestock food industry as raw material for the production of other value-added products, directly influencing the development of rural communities. Currently, corn production has become more critical instead of improving, a worrying situation for the inhabitants of Los Ríos, due to the social consequences they are experiencing, due to the lack of economic resources for technical assistance to the peasants of this province, considering that more than 65% of the inhabitants are in the rural sector. This research was carried out at the Tress Marias site, located at 56 meters above sea level, Babahoyo canton, Los Ríos Province. The stated objectives were: i) assess the dose of copper sulfate pentahydrate as a foliar fertilizer that provides greater productivity in the cultivation of hard corn. ii) Identify the dose of copper sulfate pentahydrate as a fertilizer that provides a lower incidence of diseases and iii) Establish the Benefit/Cost in the treatments. A Randomized Complete Block design with 4 treatments and three repetitions was used, each fertilization system that is used in the crop was considered as a treatment: T0: without application; T1: 500 cc/ha; T2: 500 cc/ha and T3: 500 cc/ha. Analysis of variance, Tukey test at 5% was performed to check the average of treatments, correlation analysis, linear regression, and benefit-cost ratio. The results were: The application of the three doses of copper sulfate pentahydrate to the hard corn hybrid Emblema 777 increased the percentage of plants with cob, the grain yield per plot and the weight of one hundred grains, compared to the technology of the farmer in the Las Marias sector. The best yield of hard corn at 13% humidity was given in treatment T2: 750 cc of copper sulfate pentahydrate with 9482.57 Kg/ha. In the three doses of copper sulfate pentahydrate, they presented a resistant reaction for the incidence and severity of foliar diseases such as Roya and Carbons, for ear health they presented a Moderate Rot. The independent variables that contributed to increase the yield of hard corn at 13% moisture were Number of plants per plot; Percentage of plants with ear; Number of harvested plants, Yield per plot in Kg and Weight of 100 grains. The best benefit/cost and income/cost ratio was obtained by applying 750 cc of copper sulfate pentahydrate with a B/C of 1.75 and an RI/C of 0.75. This research allowed to validate and select a technological alternative that contributes to improve the sustainability of hard corn production systems with the application of 750 cc of copper sulfate pentahydrate, as valid foliar fertilizer for the agroecological zone of the La Unión parish, canton. Babahoyo. |
