| Summary: | The cultivation of oats is of great global importance due to its excellent nutritional attributes for human food and as fodder. It is widely researched in the European Union, the United States and Mexico to improve the different segments of the value chain. The highlands region, have great potential for cultivation, however, limitations in the processes of research, validation, technology transfer and the lack of knowledge of producers of technological alternatives and quality seed, productivity indicators are low. This research was carried out at the Laguacoto Farm at an altitude of 2622 m and a type of clay loam soil. The objectives were to characterize the agronomic behavior of five oat accessions in order to evaluate the productive variables of five accessions and to select the cultivar with the best attributes of resistance to foliar diseases. The Randomized Complete Blocks design was applied with three replications. The treatments were five oat accessions. Morphological descriptors and agronomic evaluations of the main yield components were recorded. Analysis of variance, Tukey's test, correlation and linear regression were performed. The morpho agronomic response of the five oat accessions was very different. The morphological descriptors that affected yield were plant vigor, strong stems and grain size. The main agronomic variables that increased yield were earliness, panicles per m², length and grains per pane. Later accessions and susceptibility to the complex of diseases caused by Fusarium, viruses, leaf and stem rusts, significantly reduced yield. The treatments to improve the diversification and sustainability of production systems in the agroecological zone of Laguacoto were accessions AS-11-005; AS-17-002 and INIAP Fortaleza, with average yields of 4670.30, 4447.90, 4195.10 kg/ha. |
