| Izvleček: | In the present research project: THE READER’S COMMENT AND HABILITY TO DECODE READING IN STUDENTS OF THE SECOND YEAR OF BASIC GENERAL EDUCATION, PARALLEL “A” OF THE EDUCATIVE UNIT “ROBERTO ALFREDO ARREGUI” OF CANTON GUARANDA, PROVINCIA BOLIVAR, IN THE PERIOD 2023- 2024, the relationship between reading understanding and ability to decode reading is addressed in order to obtain relevant information from the educational community. The aim of this research work is to identify how the ability to decode influences student reading understanding. For this purpose, the Educational Unit “Roberto Alfredo Arregui” of the Canton of Guaranda, Bolívar Province, was elected for the academic period 2023-2024, with 21 second-year students of Parallel General Basic Education “A”. This research work is based on a quantitative approach methodology, which applied to students a 10-question questionnaire to collect data on the level of reading understanding and ability to decode reading. The results obtained from the research allowed to design a guide of pedagogical strategies with activities to strengthen reading understanding and improve the ability to decode reading in students, becoming a fundamental support for the teacher, therefore, these activities can be used in the classroom to contribute to the process of teaching and learning, thereby improving the academic performance and reading skills of children. |
