The main objective of the research is to understand how the social fabric of this neighborhood has been formed and maintained over time, focusing especially on community organization and social relations. To achieve this objective, a historical investigation has been carried out that involves the analysis of documents, interviews with key members of the community and the review of the evolution of the neighborhood over the years. The methods used include documentary analysis and the review of historical archives of the community. In addition, interviews were conducted to find out the current perceptions of the residents about the social fabric, community organization and social relations in the neighborhood. The research results show that fragile relationships affect the social fabric, so that community organization is weak and possibly non-existent. In conclusion, this historical study has provided an overview of the social fabric in the Defensa del Pueblo neighborhood of Guaranda. It is important to highlight that the research offers a historical approach that can be applied in other contexts to understand how community relations and organization have evolved over time. The results highlight the importance of community organization and social relationships in building a solid community. This research highlights the relevance of promoting the participation of members in decision-making and collective activities to strengthen the social fabric in other communities.
