Beskrivelse
Summary:The work entitled "Forest fires and their impact on vegetation cover in the Cruz de Ventanas community, Simiátug parish, Guaranda canton in the period 2022-2024." Its general objective was to analyze the impact of forest fires on environmental degradation, for this purpose three objectives were set, the identification of the level of susceptibility to forest fires by executing the Pro - Calculation methodology, considering variables such as vegetation susceptibility (type, duration and fuel load), climatic factors (precipitation and temperature), historical fire density, roads and slope, The results obtained in ArcGIS were validated through a field visit, checking the correspondence between the generated model and real conditions, confirming the occurrence of fires in the area, the evaluation of the impact of forest fires with the use of AI, generating a code in the cloud-based geospatial analysis platform, to obtain the fire severity index through the use of data from the Landsat 8 satellite, resulting in that between 2022 and 2023, fire susceptibility increased dramatically in areas close to human activity and the fire trend had a considerable decline and continued between the year 2024 and mid-2025, with a significant reduction in forest fires, propose prevention and mitigation strategies such as the implementation of the forest fire susceptibility map by the Decentralized Autonomous Governments (GAD) as a key tool for territorial planning, thus allowing a more precise allocation of resources and the prioritization of interventions in risk areas, it is suggested that risk management institutions integrate the analysis of satellite images through Google Earth Engine (GEE), since this methodology offers solid technical foundations for ecological restoration.
