Objective: To evaluate nursing care In patients with influenza AH1N1, according to the model of Virginia Henderson at the Hospital Alfredo Noboa Montenegro. Method: An observation guide was applied to 16 clinical histories of patients suspected and confirmed with Influenza AH1N1. Design: A descriptive, retrospective, documental and cross-sectional study. Results: The clinical epidemiological characterization of the 16 clinical patients of AH1N1 Influenza was obtained, with the following results: 69% were women and 31% were men, the age group was between 21 and 40 years old with 44 %, Fever and respiratory distress are the most common signs and symptoms with 100%, while rhinorrhea and odynophagia are scarce with 25%, in 100% of the patients nasopharyngeal swab was performed and started treatment with Oseltamivir , 25% was confirmed as positive for Influenza AH1N1 of which 13% died. Diagnoses and specific interventions were established for each of the 14 needs. Service leaders were developed and socialized the Assessment Guide for patients with AH1N1 Influenza according to the Virginia Henderson Model. Conclusions: Nursing care should be based on critical judgments derived from the application of a care model. Patients who died started treatment with Oseltamivir late. Self-medication conceals the clinical picture of the AH1N1 Influenza, preventing diagnosis and timely treatment. The nursing staff focuses only on the biological part of the patient, affected by the pathology, neglecting the psycho-social factor. There is scarce application of the Nursing Care Process (PAE) in the AH1N1 Influenza. Key words: Virginia Henderson Model, Nursing Care Process, Evaluation Guide, AH1N1 Influenza, nursing care. |
