Shrnutí:River overflows are recurring events that affect the communities that reside on their banks. In the case of the Suquibí River micro-basin, located in the rural parish of San Luis de Pambil, these overflows have caused significant damage to the local infrastructure and economy. The objective of this research was to analyze the effects of the river overflow. For this purpose, a mixed methodology was used that combines qualitative and quantitative approaches, with a non- experimental, field, descriptive and analytical level of research. The research focused on identifying the conditioning and triggering factors that contribute to overflow. For this reason, precipitation data was collected through the NASA platform, as well as information from bibliographic sources. In addition, Excel software was used for data tabulation, PSPP for statistical analysis and SAGA to model the susceptible area. The results showed that the related factors contributing to overflow are; conditioning the morphometric parameters of the basin and triggering precipitation, conditions that favor the accumulation of sediments in the channel, which reduces its water storage capacity and increases the risk of overflows. In the last four years, eight events of this type have been recorded. Based on the results found in this research, risk reduction measures against overflows of the Suquibí River are proposed.
