Identificación de riesgos de desastres en la unidad educativa Héroes de Paquisha del cantón Santo Domingo durante el periodo mayo – septiembre 2023

The purpose of the investigative project was to identify the risks of disasters in the Héroes de Paquisha Educational Unit belonging to the Santo Domingo canton during the period May-September 2023, due to the fact that the establishment is accentuated on unstable terrain and close to the Pove River. In addition, certain parts of the structure present cracks and fissures due to the latest telluric events that have occurred in the country. The methodology implemented has a mixed qualitative-quantitative and descriptive approach, whose research design was structured through the “diamond by colors” methodology that was based on the collection of information to obtain results of qualitative analysis, complemented with surveys. Closed to obtain quantifiable data and determine the level of risk existing in the population. A simple random sample was applied, with a total of 288 people including students, teachers and administrative staff. The techniques used were surveys and standardized matrices to assess the level of risk. According to the results, the existing disaster risks in the Educational Unit were analyzed, which allowed knowing the response capacity of the institution, the available resources and the safe zones in case of an emergency, likewise, the level of risk for each existing threat, prevailing floods, land undermining and crime with high levels of risks, finally, risk reduction measures were proposed focused on the organizational part, training, security features, supplies, buildings, equipment, public services, alternative systems and recovery.
