Тойм:Domestic violence is a social phenomenon that generates negative consequences on the well-being and quality of life of the people who suffer it, taking into account that they can be men and women; However, currently established policies favor only women, leaving men aside because they are considered incapable of being victims of violence. For this reason, it is necessary that the established laws be analyzed to recognize the possible shortcomings that may arise. The objective of the research is to analyze the Ecuadorian legal regulations related to the right to equality between men and women to understand the current legislative situation. Thus, it is considered of great importance to identify the current regulations to combat domestic violence and promote the right to equality; so that it can be compared with other legislation and establish possible shortcomings that can be solved to reduce the appearance of this phenomenon. The methodology used will be a qualitative approach, descriptive scope, bibliographic- documentary type; and non-experimental design. The expected results are: to know the theoretical and doctrinal foundation of domestic violence and the right to equality between men and women; know the national and international regulations related to the topic and the establishment of similarities and differences between Ecuadorian, Mexican and Chilean legislation on the research problem; that generates a broad perspective of it. Keywords: Rights, Formal equality. Material equality, crime, Domestic Violence.
