الملخص: | Introduction: Intermediate care units (ICMU) are specialized services of health institutions aimed at the care of the disease for patients who are expected to be at low risk of needing life-support therapeutic measures, but who require more monitoring and nursing care than that they can receive in hospitalization, due to the severity and condition of critically ill patients, the Intermediate Care Unit of the provincial hospital Alfredo Noboa Montenegro is considered operationally as the Intensive Care Unit, because it contains adequate material resources and specialist medical personnel in Intensive Care that provide care to critically ill patients. These services, due to their high complexity, create stress for the person, the family and the personnel that provide care to critically ill patients, where efforts are largely focused on physical care. Purpose: To relate the experiences of the family of patients in the intensive care unit at the provincial hospital Alfredo Noboa Montenegro of the canton Guaranda, through the application of an in-depth interview, in order to strengthen and sensitize the Humanized care offered by nursing professionals who provide care in the intensive care unit. Methodology: The research was of a qualitative approach, phenomenological cut, type of non-probability sampling of convenience, population ten relatives of patients who were admitted to the intensive care unit, these families signed the informed consent and participated in the in-depth interview, which were recorded and transcribed verbatim to be analyzed using the Atlas Ti 8.3 software, creating a hermeneutical unit. Results: Attention received: the relatives of the patients admitted to the intensive care unit indicated that the care received is of quality, and therefore they are satisfied. Quality of communication: communication between health personnel and family is good but the information provided is not very clear because the professionals use technical language. Relatives' experiences: in general, the personal life of families is affected by the critical illness situation of their relative, hindering the normal continuity of daily activities. Conclusions: the families of the patients present a variety of mood states; The treatment subjects the family member to a modification of habits where he presents episodes of psychological and social alterations, to face the experience he finds support in the family and in spirituality, they need information, emotional support from the health team and a desire for closeness. |
