Description
Summary:The determination of the effect of the environment on the reproductive efficiency of cows of the Holstein friesian breed in the province of Tungurahua has objective of the research was to determine the effect of the environment on the reproductive efficiency of cows of the Holstein Friesian breed. The objective of the study was to determine the effect of the environment on the reproductive efficiency of cows of the Holstein Friesian breed, in the Province of Tungurahua, Ecuador. The data was analyzed in a general linear model_ GLM. The comparison of the least square means was carried out with the Tukey-Kramer test. Descriptive statistics were calculated for the variable’s duration of gestation_ DGEST, age at first calving EPP, calving interval conception_ IPC, intercalving interval _IEP using Proc Means in the SAS vw. 9.4. The environmental effects studied were calving year_ YEARP, calving month_ MESP and season_ EPO. DGEST parameters were determined at 280.35 ±0.47 days; IEP, 562.76 ±6.29 days; EPP, 30.88 ±0.36 months; e, CPI at 4.85 ±0.44 months. The DGEST, EPP, IEP was not affected by the environment (P>0.05), however, in the IPC if the environmental factors had effects (P<0.0004). It is concluded that the environmental effects YEAR, MESP and EPO, did not have a manifestation of the DGEST, EPP, IEP, instead, in the IPC it had a significant manifestation (P<0.0004). under the breeding systems in the province of Tungurahua, Ecuador.
