| Zusammenfassung: | The research project carried out in the Alpachaca sector, Guaranda canton, during the year 2022, aimed to establish some of the relationships that exist between the shortage of sources of employment and its incidence in criminal events, within public spaces. This study focused on analyzing in detail the economic and social factors, which influence this phenomenon, using a combination of three research approaches such as descriptive, correlational and documentary. Therefore, within Alpachaca, being the study area, it provides an ideal environment to examine the main variables, as it faces specific challenges related to employment and public safety. The study population included all residents of the Aplachaca community, while the sample was drawn randomly, comprising 30 representative individuals of the sector. The use of databases from public entities, along with carefully designed surveys, made it possible to collect valuable information about the community's perceptions and experiences regarding these issues. The results obtained through the analysis of variables and statistical data revealed significant patterns. Clear correlations were identified between unemployment rates and blind crime rates, underscoring the relationship already exposed between these two variables. In addition, possible mediating and moderating factors that could influence this relationship were examined, such as educational level, access to social resources, and community infrastructure. This study not only provides a deeper understanding of the challenges facing the Alpachaca community, but also offers valuable ideas to inform policies and programs aimed at addressing both the shortage of employment sources and public safety in the country. The findings presented here can serve as a starting point for future research and actions aimed at improving the quality of life and well-being of the residents of Alpachaca and similar communities throughout the country.
