Vivencias del adulto mayor en relación al cuidado enfermero. Centro Gerontológico Amawta Wasi Samay, Guaranda diciembre 2022 – abril 2023

SUMMARY Topic: Experiences of the elderly in relation to sick care. Amawta Wasi Samay Gerontological Center, Guaranda December 2022 – April 2023. Purpose: Describe the experiences of the elderly in relation to sick care, to know the point of view and thus understand their emotions and provide adequate care, at the Gerontological Center residential AMAWTA WASI SAMAY of the Guaranda canton, through the implementation of in-depth interviews, in order to improve the quality of care in the elderly and prolong their duration of life in this health home. Methodology: The study is qualitative, phenomenological applied during the months of December 2022 and April 2023 in 8 older adults at the Amawta Wasi Samay Gerontological Center, Guaranda. Results: Older adults highlight the importance of addressing the impact of social isolation and being alone on the emotional well-being of older adults. Health professionals must work to provide high-quality care and a safe and comfortable environment for the older adult, as well as consider their emotional and social well- being and offer options for participation in activities. Conclusions: The impact of being institutionalized and the time institutionalized highlight the importance of high- quality attention and care that health professionals must provide in the care of the elderly. Likewise, it is essential to consider the emotional and social well-being of older adults and provide options for participation in social activities and programs to combat loneliness and social isolation.
