| Resumo: | The purpose of this study was to analyze the incidence of recreational activities in the holistic development of girls and boys in Early Childhood Education (group of 4 to 5 years), for which a bibliographical and field research was developed that allowed on the one hand to substantiate with updated literature on the possibilities of play activities and holistic training in the different dimensions of child development. An observation card with performance indicators relative to the research variables was applied in the context of quasi-experimental research, so that instrument was used in two moments (pre and post) and two groups (control and experimental). The universe of study was constituted by the children of initial education sub-level two groups of 4 to 5 years of the Roberto Alfredo Arregui Educational Unit. The results obtained in the investigation confirmed the positive incidence of recreational activities in the holistic development verified with the calculation of the parametric Z test, when comparing the performance levels for the experimental group with the experimental one (p = 0.031), as well as regarding post control (p = 0.022). Regarding the pragmatic part, an intervention proposal was designed consisting of the development of 7 learning experiences with essentially playful activities, duly planned in relation to each of the aspects of the holistic circle: emotional, social, spiritual, cognitive, physical , affective and expressive. It is concluded that recreational activities are ideal to promote holistic development, given that they allow empowering attitudes, socio-emotional, cognitive, psychomotor, expressive, affective and spiritual abilities.
