Gaia:This research report, carried out at the "Simón Bolívar" Educational Unit, in the Guaranda canton, Bolivar province, focuses on the use of social skills in collaborative learning in the subject of Natural Sciences in children in the third grade of General Basic Education. To gather information, a sociometric test was used, the results of which were captured in a sociogram in order to analyze the interactions and relationships among students during group activities. The sociogram allowed us to visualize the social structure of the group and to understand how subgroups were formed within the classroom, and also helped us to identify informal leaders, to detect possible situations of social isolation and to analyze the dynamics of influence and power among the students. By applying the sociogram to the 16 children, teachers were able to identify students who assumed leadership roles, as well as those who were isolated or marginalized by the rest of the group. This information was essential to develop a guide for teaching and collaborative learning strategies in Natural Sciences, focused on strengthening students' social skills and promoting greater collaboration among them during lessons. The use of the sociogram allowed teachers to understand the social dynamics of the group and to adapt their pedagogical methods effectively, thus ensuring an environment conducive to the development of scientific competencies through teamwork.
