Influencia de la agricultura periurbana en la sustentabilidad y seguridad alimentaria de las familias del valle de Tumbaco, provincia de Pichincha

Influence of peri-urban agriculture on the sustainability and food security of families in the Tumbaco Valley, Pichincha province; whose objectives were; Know the types of peri-urban agriculture used to strengthen sustainability and food security. Identify the actors involved in the production of peri-urban agriculture in terms of food security and sustainability, determine the good agricultural practices that are being used in the families of the Tumbaco Valley. The type of study that was used for the explanation was descriptive, through the survey instrument, which was carried out on 79 peri-urban producers, the main results obtained were; 63.3% of peri-urban agriculture in this parish is made up of family gardens; 23.5% are orchards for commercial purposes; 11.4% have small-scale urban gardens for self-consumption made in containers, vertical wall and hydroponics. The peri-urban producers in 93.7% always use good agricultural practices which are; collection of rainwater and recycling of the same for irrigation; use of MIPE for crops; majority production of food of organic and ecological origin; contribution to water care with the optimization of this resource; care of the soil through amendments to it and diversification of crops, during the process of this investigation, in addition to the producer, it was possible to identify 3 social actors of peri-urban agriculture, which are; the parish GAD; the association of the group of entrepreneurs La Unión and home sales promoters. While there is 1 commercial type that is the merchant.
