In this investigation, a problem could be evidenced, which is related to the technological advance and visit of foreign tourists who stay in the different hotel establishments to climb Los Illinizas, since the young people observe their behavior and they are coupling new customs, in this way They are losing the interest to conserve their cultural roots, this leads to that the elderly do not have with whom to share their experiences and knowledge, giving field to disappear with the passing of the years. The inhabitants of the parish are very kind, respectful, collaborators so it was easy to develop the interview directed to some outstanding people of the Parish, this questionnaire consisted of questions related to the knowledge of legends, stories, beliefs and games. Being able to develop their answers freely. With this ethnographic study that has been made, it is intended to demonstrate the Oral Culture that exists in El Chaupi Parish, through a written document that contains information about some legends, stories and beliefs that is kept in the memory of its inhabitants. Keywords: ethnographic study, oral culture, legends, stories, beliefs, El Chaupi.El presente estudio etnográfico consiste en la descripción del Patrimonio Cultural Intangible que posee la Parroquia El Chaupi basado en la colaboración proporcionada por los habitantes del casco urbano y los barrios que se encuentran en los alrededores, estas personas proporcionaron valiosa información para la investigación ya que ellos son testigos de estos procesos culturales, también en el Infocentro de El Chaupi recopilé información para el estudio. En esta investigación se pudo evidenciar un problema, que está relacionado con el avance tecnológico y visita de turistas extranjeros que se alojan en los diferentes establecimientos hoteleros para escalar Los Illinizas, ya que los jóvenes observan su comportamiento y van acoplando nuevas costumbres, de esta manera van perdiendo el interés de conservar sus raíces culturales, esto lleva a que los adultos mayores no tengan con quienes compartir sus vivencias y conocimientos, dando campo a desaparecer con el pasar de los años. Los habitantes de la parroquia son muy amables, respetuosos, colaboradores por lo que fue fácil desarrollar la entrevista dirigida a algunas personas sobresalientes de la Parroquia, este cuestionario constaba de preguntas relacionadas al conocimiento de leyendas, historias, creencias y juegos. Pudiendo desarrollar sus respuestas de forma libre. Con este estudio etnográfico que eh realizado se pretende evidenciar la Cultura Oral que existe en la Parroquia El Chaupi, mediante un documento escrito que contenga información sobre algunas leyendas, historias y creencias que se mantiene en la memoria de sus habitantes.
