| Zusammenfassung: | The professional performance of graduates of the nursing career, period 2015-2016 is the result of the academic training obtained at the university. For the implementation of this project the following problem was raised: How does the academic training of graduates of the nursing career in the Units of the National Health System, zone 5, Bolivar State University, 2015-2016 ? To solve this problem, it was established as a general objective to analyze the professional performance of graduates of the nursing career of the Bolivar State University in the Units of the National Health System, zone 5 in relation to academic training, period 2015- 2016; to make this research viable, we reviewed the background and scientific bases that support that the professional performance is closely linked to the academic formation. The descriptive, method was used to determine the variables (dependent variable: professional performance and independent variable: academic training) from which the research instrument was obtained that was applied to the 19 graduates and 15 nursing leaders who work in zone 5, the results were obtained by tabulating, analyzing and interpreting the results: that the professional performance is closely related to the academic training obtained in the classroom, which allows analyzing, planning, managing and evaluate models and intervention strategies in the health process of the person, family and community; the professional performance level of graduates of the nursing career, period 2015-12016, zone 5 is within the range of excellent and very good qualifications; limitations were identified such as: little practice in surgical nursing, lack of knowledge in pharmacology, inadequate management of MSP programs and forms for which it is necessary to update contents and incorporate teachers with a specialty to teach those subjects; the laboratories are the main stage of practical learning, so it is necessary to emphasize the implementation of equipment, materials and inputs in accordance with scientific and technological advances.
