Summary:The present research is a study of great importance given the relevance of the quality of education in our country today. The formulation of the problem posed was limited practice Does literacy negatively affects the teaching and learning of children in second through seventh grade of General Basic Education of the Education Unit "Diez de Enero" of San Miguel, Bolívar province process, 2014 -2015 period ?. The overall objective was to describe the influence of literacy in the teaching and learning of children in second through seventh year of General Basic Education of the Education Unit "Diez de Enero"; Specific objectives were: Diagnose methodological literacy strategies used by teachers in the educational process of their classes; Implement activities that promote literacy of students in second through seventh grade of basic general education and strengthen the teaching-learning process; and design a workshop writers and readers with the participation of students, teachers and parents in order to overcome this difficulty regarding reading and writing. According to the performed research it was found that the correct literacy influences the educational process of students in second through seventh grade of General Basic Education of the Education Unit "Diez de Enero" because reading and writing are the basis for learning all study areas, literacy is not only correctly pronounce the words so as to understand what the text wants to show not only write means to reproduce signs and symbols but write legibly, clear, understandable and above all find a correct expression through the word, not by others indicate that writing is the foundation for the other sciences that students develop in their daily comings and goings, whether they can read and write properly, will understand and express themselves more effectively in Mathematics, Science , Social Studies. The results obtained with this study as evidenced by the actors of this research are: Parents express great satisfaction to see that they represent handled in a better reading and writing and that this has greatly improved their academic development, it logically has been achieved with the support and commitment. Teachers have to understand that reading and writing are not mechanical, tedious and boring event but a fun way to get the child not only read and write properly but feel like to do it and in the classroom are essential to spaces designed especially for these learning activities that motivate students to read and write. As managers could make them feel more motivated and proud to know that little by little this great problem that involves going eradicated literacy of our educational institution, know that it has a staff trained and aware of their work , students are improving day by day learning more and parents who support this mission is considered a very positive result. Students active participants in education and who were the main reason for this research were able to overcome that barrier that prevented understand the subjects they studied, write properly, expressing their thoughts and feelings through a correct reading and writing today have the basic tools that allow them to break into this new knowledge society as it was possible that they have a comprehensive reading, legible handwriting, correct use of spelling rules through motivating activities that made reading and writing is not an obligation but a pleasure. Finally, this research work is intended as an alternative solution to such a complicated difficulty, through the application of methodological strategies for their creative solution and simultaneously contributes to the development of literacy, making it easier to study Language and Literature with implementing a creative workshop of readers and writers
