| Summary: | In Ecuador, chicken meat consumption is 495 thousand tons of meat per year, which implies a high demand for raw materials for bird feed, so alternatives that reduce costs are constantly sought. Ecuador is a country rich in diversity of wild fruits, however, the lack of knowledge has prevented the exploitation of these species, a clear example is the case of the breadfruit tree and the jackfruit, which have multiple nutritional characteristics that benefit the development and growth of different animals. The present study was carried out in the San José sector of the Caluma canton, where three levels of breadfruit flour (Artocarpus altilis) and jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) were evaluated in broiler chickens, here the different flours were analyzed physically and chemically, the effectiveness of the different levels of treatments was also evaluated and the benefit-cost of the study was determined. The study was carried out on a total of 210 chickens, with the application of six treatments and with three repetitions each. Once the results were obtained, they were analyzed and represented by tables and graphs. When carrying out the bromatological examination of both the Breadfruit and the Jackfruit, it was evident that they presented a protein of 8.49% and 6.54% respectively, these being lower than the protein present in the commercial feed (21%). Due to this, the final weight gain of the specimens was affected, so it was determined that the flours did not show positive changes in the weight of the chickens. The C/B analysis determined that the production cost of the flours would be high and despite the fact that most of the treatments obtained a value higher than 1, this would not be significant. |
