| Zusammenfassung: | The participation and leadership of women in politics is an issue of historical struggle, since there are limitations for women to participate in the spaces of power and decision making. The sectional elections are a scenario of structural power, which is why there is still an inferior representation of men, however, thanks to the social struggles of different movements, today it is observed that women are already involved in decision-making spaces and electoral processes. The objective of the research is based on the diagnosis of the political participation of women in the canton Guaranda, identifying leadership and empowerment in the sectional elections during the periods of 2019 and 2023, because they are the years where women have had greater representation in the electoral processes in Ecuador. The information will be carried out based on the qualitative method, because the tool of interviewing the main actresses who have been participants in the processes of political participation and leadership of the sectional elections is used, for this the population that is chosen is by discretionary sampling, which consists of a selection of women actress’s representatives in the empowerment, participation and female leadership in the canton Guaranda. In the canton of Guaranda it is evident that women have had greater political representation in the sectional elections in 2023, because the mechanisms of access to electoral politics improved with the processes of inclusion, equality, justice and empowerment, however, in the period of 2019 there is a line of acceptable female participation in political processes. Women, based on processes of struggles and public policy reforms, have achieved greater representation in political areas, however, they are still working to overcome those barriers and challenges that arise while eradicating those stereotypes that are within a structural society.
