The population under study was made up of merchants and administrative workers who work in the municipal market of the canton of San Miguel. The necessary information was collected by means of two closed questionnaires addressed to the market traders and the administrators. With the information tabulated and analyzed, by means of descriptive statistics, it was possible to verify that biosecurity measures were not applied, aimed at generating barriers to contain the spread, within the municipal market facilities, being a risk for both users as for the workers. Likewise, it was determined that the population under study was composed mostly of people from vulnerable groups who are exposed to the virus, due to the lack of biosafety measures structured in predefined guidelines, which allow the authorities the mechanisms to its application, in order to properly manage sanitary measures in a timely manner. These insights led to the design of an easy-to-understand guide, to be used by merchants and market administrators, which is recommended to be disclosed and applied immediately, in order to promote safe spaces and reduce the risk of contagion by COVID-19 when using the facilities of the municipal market of SanMiguel. Key Words: Vulnerability, COVID-19, Biosecurity, Municipal MarketEl presente estudio tiene como objetivo realizar un análisis de vulnerabilidad en el contexto del COVID-19 a comerciantes y administradores del mercado municipal del cantón San Miguel, provincia Bolívar. Para ello, se planteó metodológicamente un enfoque cuantitativo de corte trasversal y de tipo exploratorio por ser una problemática relativamente desconocida. La población en estudio estuvo conformada por comerciantes y administrativos que laboran en el mercado municipal del cantón San Miguel. La información necesaria fue recopilada por medio de entrevistas, salida de campo y dos cuestionarios cerrados dirigidos a los comerciantes y a los administrativos. Con la información tabulada y analizada, por medio de la estadística descriptiva, se logró constatar que no se aplicaban medidas de bioseguridad, dirigidas a generar barreras de contención de la propagación, dentro de las instalaciones del mercado municipal, siendo un riesgo tanto para los usuarios como para los trabajadores. Así mismo, se determinó que, la población en estudio estaba compuesta en su mayoría por personas de grupos vulnerables que se encuentran expuestos al virus, debido a la carencia de medidas de bioseguridad estructuradas en guías predefinidas, las cuales permiten a las autoridades los mecanismos para su aplicación, con el fin de gestionar adecuadamente las medidas sanitarias de manera oportuna. Estas apreciaciones llevaron al diseño de una guía de fácil comprensión, para ser empleada por los comerciantes y administrativos del mercado, la cual se recomienda divulgar y aplicar de manera inmediata, a fin de propender espacios seguros y disminuir el riesgo de contagio por COVID-19 al usar las instalaciones del mercado municipal de San Miguel.
