According to the WHO, the safety of surgical patients has been a fundamental element in health care worldwide. Given the progressive incidence of complications attributable to surgical interventions that depend on the complexity of the operation and the hospital environment. In our country surgical problems have been established as the main causes of morbidity, taking into account the aforementioned, we decided to carry out our research in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Hospital where the influx of a large number of surgical interventions has been identified, many of them of them they enter by emergency what with leads to a series of breaches in the norms of security of the patient, since the urgency of the time influences in that some steps are avoided for the correct handling of the patient. In the present investigation, the diagnostic survey carried out on the nursing staff and the observation was applied as a data collection instrument in order to determine the degree of knowledge and safety application of the patient's care. With field design and descriptive. By means of which it has been possible to identify a medium level of knowledge and a low application of safety measures in the surgical patient, as well as a series of nursing actions for the safety of the surgical patient, which are not performed correctly in the surgical center of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Hospital. The training is carried out with the Nursing Care Safety Guide for surgical patients in the surgical center service, in order to have a trained staff in this area.
