Gaia:Peanuts are an oleaginous highly valued worldwide commercially are distinguished mainly four types; Runner, Virginia, Spanish and Valencia, being the most traded Runner type. Globally, 26 million hectares cultivated producing about 45 million tons per year. In Ecuador, the main provinces where this oilseed is grown are: Manabi and Loja 12000 to 15000 hectares. The average yield is 661 kg/ha, of which 28 % is intended for self-consumption and 72 % for marketing. This research was conducted at the Campus Pijullo. The objectives were: i) Evaluate the main agronomic characteristics 12 Runner type peanuts cultivars. ii) To determine the best cultivars Runner type peanuts for the agro-ecological zone under study. iii) Establish a database of agronomic characterization 12 Runner type peanuts cultivars to continue the research process. 12 peanut cultivars from INIAP Runner type were evaluated. Design Randomized Complete (DBCA) Blocks used. The response of the 12 peanut cultivars in relation to variables: Days seedling emergence (DEP) Percent field emergence (PEC), branches per plant (RP), Vaneamiento (V %), grains per pod (GV), number of grains per kilogram (NG-kg) and weight of 100 grains (PG) were similar (NS). Variables: Plant height (AP), days to harvest (DC), grains per plant (GP), Days to flowering (DF), pods per plant (PV) and yield per hectare (R-kg/ha) they were different. This research concluded that treatment T5: RCM 91, reached the highest performance with 1721.95 kg/ha also had the highest number of pods per plant with 12 pods, and larger number of grains per plant with 22 grains, higher values relation to those shown by the witnesses. The best performance was due to increased Percentage of emergency (PEC) with 84 % and days to flowering (DF) with 75 %. The cultivar with better yield potential, selected for this agro-ecological zone and planting time was June 13: RCM 91.
