That is why this research aims to verify the application of biosecurity measures for COVID-19 in the triage area of the General Hospital Quevedo (IESS). For this, a methodological framework was designed with a quantitative approach, at an observationaland exploratory level, where information was collected through an observation file that allowed guiding the observation process of 13 nursing professionals who work in the triage area of the General Quevedo Hospital. (IESS). From this process it was obtained as the main result that the average general compliance with the biosafety regulations is 74%, registering that most of the professionals present a moderate level of compliance, and only one has a low percentage of compliance with the biosafety protocols. Concluding with the investigation that the biosafety protocols in the triage area are applied to the greatest extent possible, presenting a greater deficiency in the area of replacement of personal protective equipment, availability for disinfectionand disposal of non-reusable products and in the application of the discard questions indicated by the Ministry of Public Health. In this sense, it is recommended to socialize the proposed guide in order to remember the relevant biosafety protocols to avoid contagion from nursing professionals and patient users of these areas.Keywords: Triage. Nursing, COVID-19, Biosafety.El triaje es un proceso clave en las situaciones de contingencia, como la vivenciada en la actualidad frente la pandemiapor el COVID-19, por lo que resulta necesario conocer y aplicar protocolos de bioseguridad que permitan a los profesionales de enfermería desempeñar su rol de manera eficaz y oportuna sin poner en riesgo su salud, la de los compañeros, pacientes y familiares. Es por esto que la presente investigación tiene como objetivo Verificar la aplicación de medidas de bioseguridad para COVID-19 en el área de triaje del Hospital General Quevedo (IESS). Para ello se diseñóun marco metodológico con enfoque cuantitativo, de nivel observacional y exploratoria, donde se recolectó información por medio de una ficha de observación que permitió guiar el proceso de observación de 13 profesionales de enfermería que laboran el área de triaje del Hospital General Quevedo (IESS). A partir de dicho proceso se obtuvo como resultado principal que el promedio de cumplimiento general de las normas bioseguridad es de 74%, registrándose que la mayoría de los profesionales presentan un nivel moderado de cumplimiento, y solo uno tiene un bajo porcentaje de cumplimiento de los protocolos de bioseguridad. Concluyendo con la investigación que los protocolos de bioseguridad en el área de triaje son aplicados en la mayor medida de lo posible, presentándose mayor deficiencia en el área de reposición de equipos de protección personal, disponibilidad para la desinfección y desecho de los productos no reutilizables y en la aplicación de las preguntas de descartes indicadas por el Ministerio de Salud Pública. En tal sentido se recomienda socializar la guía propuesta con el fin de recordar los protocolos de bioseguridad pertinentes para evitar el contagio de los profesionales de enfermería y de los pacientes usuarios de estas áreas.Palabras Clave: Triaje.
