Vivencias de los familiares respecto al rol de la Enfermera/o durante la muerte y etapa de duelo. Hospital Alfredo Noboa Montenegro. Octubre 2019 febrero 2020. Caso de estudio.

Introduction: Death, grief are intrinsic processes of life, talking about them is considered taboo, generates dilemmas, controversies regarding their approach, according to the different cultures. Purposes: Share the theoretical representations existing from the philosophical, theological point of view concerning death and the stage of mourning; tell the experiences of family members of patients regarding the role of the nurse during these stages; foster in the nursing professional reflections on his approach, the role he plays in family support. Methodology: Qualitative approach research, phenomenological section, type of non-probabilistic convenience sampling; population 18 relatives who confirmed their participation, signed the informed consent; The in- depth interview was recorded, transcribed verbatim to be analyzed by the ATLAS TI software, categorizing the information into hierarchies of: Codes, memos, quotes, prior to the elaboration of 3 hermeneutical units. Results: Contextualizing death and grief: Family members define death as the "end of our life" and the duel "expression of pain." Facing death and grief: These painful processes were experienced by family members both in the hospital and at home. Relieving suffering: The emotional support of the nursing staff was null, prioritized and complied with post- mortem care involving the family member in its realization. Affectivity and Faith: Nursing was not incorporated into the spiritual realm. Sensitizing death and grief: Nursing lacked humanism, compassion, affectivity in their interventions; Family members suggest the implementation of psychological work. Conclusions: Family members experienced death and grief in the hospital, feeling nursing absence of emotional, spiritual, psychological support, forgetting the nurse-family interaction, breaching one of the responsibilities of nursing, the relief of suffering. They sought that support in their family, performed on their own rituals during the agony and death of their relative.
