Evaluación del efecto analgésico de la ketamina más carprofeno vs carprofeno para el manejo del dolor en pacientes post ovariohisterectomía

This research aims to evaluate the analgesic effect provided by the combination of Ketamine + Carprofen versus the use of Carprofen alone in pain management in postoperative canine patients who underwent ovariohysterectomy. The study sought to address the lack of evidence on multimodal protocols combining analgesic drugs such as Ketamine with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Carprofen. For this purpose, a population of 20 clinically healthy bitches was used, which were distributed in two groups, Ketamine 4mg/kg + Carprofen 4.4 mg/kg treatment and Carprofen 4.4 mg/kg treatment. Measuring the variable of the Glasgow pain scale for six days after surgery. For the processing of the results obtained, the data collected were scaled using Wilcoxon tests to validate the research hypothesis. These results showed that there are no significant differences for the Ketamine + Carprofen treatment, where on day 1 there is an average of 12, while in the Carprofen treatment there is an average of 15, which indicates that there is no relevance in analgesia with respect to Carprofen alone, For day two the score for treatment 1 is 9 and for treatment 2 it is 11, the pain persisting, on day 4 it is visualized that in treatment 1 it has a value of 4 and in treatment 2 it has a value of 8, for the sixth day there was still discomfort in the two treatments with a value of 1 and 4. In this sense, the discussion suggests the use of a dose higher than 4mg of Ketamine in order to investigate if it acts as an enhancer of the analgesia level of Carprofen by inhibiting the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors. It is concluded then that the combination of Ketamine + Carprofen treatment did not have a significant efficiency in post-surgical pain in relation to the median of 10 of Carprofen alone.
