Резюме:In ancient times, physicians associated wound healing with the formation of pus, so they covered wounds with dressings and plasters to produce it, until it was discovered that only keeping the wound clean and covered led to a more satisfactory evolution. Currently the technological development of dressings in relation to the overall assessment of patients with infected wounds, reduces complications and costs, increasing the healing rates of these entities. Until recently, wound care paid special attention to their protective treatment with various materials that have been improving over time (Sanchez et al., 2021). In Ecuador, most veterinary clinics receive clinical cases that should be classified as emergencies or emergencies, whether caused by accidents or fights with other animals caused by accidents or fights with other animals. Taking into account that most of the population has pets and many times they keep them outside their homes causing the animal to suffer serious injuries, the clinician must have knowledge of the etiological mechanisms responsible to know how to choose the most appropriate therapeutic method. (Pavletic, 2020). Regenerative therapies are currently of great importance because they help to stop the development of the medical problem and also favors the reversal of this without causing side effects as it increases the synthesis of collagen and growth factors exert a great effect on tissue recovery, Within this therapy is the application of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) which being a blood derivative allows the construction of new tissue and although its use in veterinary medicine has been implemented in the field of traumatology, recent research has shown that this therapy is able to help in the healing of open wounds making it an economical, efficient and necessary process for the proper outcome of the same. On the other hand, manuka honey has also been used as a remedy for wounds because of its concentration of methylglyoxal, which has an antimicrobial function allowing the alteration of the pH of the wound allowing its healing (Sanchez et al., 2021). Studies in Guayaquil evaluate PRP in the treatment of corneal ulcers, obtaining positive results in the treatment in most cases, while in Loja there has been an investigation that gave positive results in the process of wound healing in rabbits with the application of manuka honey; however, in Santo Domingo there is no research that guarantees which of the methods is more functional in humid climates.
