Se realizó un estudio de observación directa a pacientes y de Campo a médicos con una perspectiva descriptiva, mientras que para analizar el crecimiento en las ventas de medicamentos durante los últimos años nos apoyamos en un enfoque exploratorio; se identifico la preferencia tanto de médicos como pacientes que al momento de prescribir y comprar un medicamento para enfermedades crónicas prefieren originales, preferencia que puede variar al instante de prescribir y/o adquirir un medicamento, ya que el factor económico o poder adquisitivo de las personas es determinante al momento de la compra. |

Specialists and patients neglected generic medicine for treating a diseases due to the lack of confidence on them, even more if it is to treat a chronic disease, that affects the health in a permanently way, and there is no cure in the majority of cases, Chronicle diseases are usually and treated by specialists, those who are looking for an improvement or an extension in the life of the patients, The study was conducted to determine the preference of doctors and patients had when they selecting a medicine. We realize a study with a direct observation to patients and Doctors with a field observation with a descriptive approach, while in order to analyze the growth in sales of medicines during the past few years we use an exploratory approach. The results reflected that both patients and physicians preferred branded medicine rather than generic for treating chronic illnesses.
