| description | Los preescolares son seres pasivos dietéticos, por ello es importante observar las actitudes y prácticas alimentarias de las personas encargadas de su cuidado nutricional. El presente estudio de tipo descriptivo, transversal, no experimental valoró el estado nutricional de una muestra por conveniencia de 60 preescolares pacientes de la consulta externa de la Fundación de Asistencia Social Enlace FUNDASEN de Guayaquil. Se aplicó el Cuestionario de actitud y el test de Krece-Plus a 60 cuidadores para determinar nivel de conocimientos y actitudes al momento de alimentar a niños/as, se evaluó el estado nutricional de preescolares a través de los indicadores peso/edad, talla/edad, peso/talla e IMC/edad. Los resultados indican que 85% de cuidadores tiene mala y regular actitud, 55% de preescolares está normopeso según índice P/E y 30% con exceso de peso, en relación a T/E, 80% tiene talla normal y en cuanto a IMC/edad, 70% está normopeso, 20% cursa con exceso de peso, 15% tiene nivel nutricional alto y 55% nivel nutricional medio, 65% de cuidadores cursó educación superior y 85% tiene a la madre como su propia cuidadora. No se encontró correlación con las variables propuestas. |

The present descriptive, cross-sectional, non-experimental study assessed the nutritional status of a sample for the convenience of 60 preschool patients from the outpatient clinic of the Social Assistance Foundation Enlace FUNDASEN of Guayaquil. The attitude questionnaire and the Krece-Plus test were applied to 60 caregivers to determine the level of knowledge and attitudes at the time of feeding children, the nutritional status of preschoolers was evaluated through the indicators weight/age, height/age, weight/height and BMI/age. The results indicate that 85% of caregivers have bad and regular attitude, 55% of preschoolers are normal weight according to P/E index and 30% with excess weight, in relation to T/E, 80% have normal size and in terms of BMI/age, 70% are normal weight, 20% are overweight, 15% have high nutritional level and 55% average nutritional level, 65% of caregivers attended higher education and 85% have the mother as their own caregiver.
