description El comercio mundial de banano siempre ha estado dominado por las transnacionales bananeras. Estas empresas fueron las precursoras de la comercialización de banano a gran escala, controlando todo el proceso de la cadena logística, maduración y distribución. Su larga trayectoria las ha hecho alcanzar altos estándares de calidad y buen posicionamiento en la mayoría de mercados. A pesar de la gran importancia que tienen las transnacionales bananeras en el comercio mundial de banano, su participación se ha visto afectada en las últimas décadas por una serie de factores. El Ecuador, como primer país exportador de banano, también ha sido influenciado por las transnacionales bananeras, y a pesar de que su presencia en el País no es mayoritaria, su reducción en la participación a nivel mundial repercute en el mercado de banano ecuatoriano. Es por esto que el objetivo de este proyecto es analizar cuáles han sido las causas de esta reducción de participación de las transnacionales bananeras y cuál es el impacto en el mercado de banano Ecuatoriano.

Since their beginning they have commercialized bananas in a big scale, managing and controlling all the logistic chain, ripening and distribution. Thanks to its long trajectory on the banana business, they have achieve high standards of quality and have reach very good position on the different markets. However, inspite of the importance that the transnationals have on the banana foreign commerce, its participation have been affected of the last decades. In Ecuador, the worldwide biggest banana exporter, the transnational have also influenced in their market, even thou their presence is not the largest one in the country, its worldwide participation affects the Ecuadorian banana business.
