| description | Durán, cantón de la provincia del Guayas, está en pleno desarrollo social y urbano, y para esto necesita crear nuevos proyectos que aporten cultural y socialmente a la población, el municipio esta en un plan de mejoras de infraestructura donde se encuentran entre otros el municipio, planes viales y un centro de convenciones Por este plan de desarrollo el municipio solicito la elaboración de un proyecto de centro de convenciones que remplace el actual y pequeño centro de convenciones. Con esto el cantón pretende crear un núcleo cultural dentro de la ciudad, y mantener el título de ciudad creativa que la UNESCO le otorgó en años anteriores. Este centro de convenciones estará implantado en el terreno donde se ubicaba la antigua fabrica de alcoholes del Ecuador. Este terreno de ubicación privilegiada frente al rio y rodeado de industrias que el nuevo plan de desarrollo de la ciudad eliminará. El diseño responde a temas sociales de la ciudad como el ferrocarril y las industrias que ayudaron desde los inicios al desarrollo económico del cantón. Se busca reflejar rasgos importantes de la población y dar todas las facilidades para que los ciudadanos en general puedan visitar el lugar y tener sus eventos ahí.
