Esta industria ha demostrado un alto desarrollo e impulso gracias al otorgamiento de los préstamos hipotecarios por bancos privados y por el BIESS que ha ido incrementando este rubro en un alto porcentaje. Sin embargo, este panorama se vuelve desalentador a partir del 2015, constituyéndose en crisis en el 2016, como consecuencia básicamente de medidas impuestas por el Gobierno. Debido a la importancia que representa este sector en el país, la investigación presenta un análisis de su evolución en el período 2010 – 2016. Basado en una investigación cualitativa – analítica, se realiza la recopilación de datos del Banco Central del Ecuador y del INEC, los mismos que evidencian las fluctuaciones que se han presentado, concluyendo en una recesión para este sector, el mismo que necesita una reactivación para mejorar la economía del país y generar más fuentes de empleo. |

This industry has shown a high development in the last years, showing a high impulse thanks to the granting of mortgage loans by private banks and by the BIESS that has been increasing this item in a high percentage. However, this scenario becomes disheartening after 2015, becoming a crisis in 2016, basically as a result of measures imposed by the Government. Due to the importance of this sector in the country, this paper presents an analysis of the evolution that has taken place in the period 2010 - 2016.
