Objetivo: El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar las lesiones de partes blandas asociadas a fracturas de pilón tibial y sus complicaciones en el Hospital Regional IESS Teodoro Maldonado Carbo. Metodología: El presente trabajo fue de tipo analítico, retrospectivo de corte transversal, que incluye a 73 pacientes con fractura de pilón tibial en el Hospital IESS Teodoro Maldonado Carbo captados desde el 1 de enero del 2015 hasta el 30 de agosto del 2017. Resultados: La lesión de tejidos blandos más frecuente fue la ruptura de la capsula posterointerna con la ruptura del ligamento Deltoideo. El 42,5% (31) de los pacientes del estudio desarrollaron complicaciones, las principales fueron la infección de la herida y la dehiscencia de suturas. El traumatismo de alta energía fue el factor asociado más común. Conclusión: Todas las lesiones de tejidos blandos influyen en el pronóstico de la función del tobillo porque son estructuras que intervienen en la movilidad del mismo. |

The involvement of the soft tissues, the pattern of each fracture and the experience of the surgeon are the parameters to decide the most appropriate for each type of fracture. Objective: The aim of this study is to analyze soft tissue injuries associated with tibial pilon fractures and their complications at the IESS Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Regional Hospital. Methodology: The present work was of analytical, retrospective crosssectional type, which includes 73 patients with tibial pilon fracture in the IESS Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Hospital from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2017. Results: The most frequent soft tissue injury was the rupture of the posterolateral capsule with the rupture of the Deltoid ligament. 42.5% (31) of the patients in the study developed complications, the main ones being wound infection and suture dehiscence. High-energy trauma was the most common associated factor.
