Zusammenfassung:The purpose of this research was to discover a financial tool outside the banking system, which could contribute to solving working capital problems in small and medium-size enterprises from Guayaquil through factoring service under a financial contract. This financial product called “Factoring”, should have an solid structure that intertwines financial, social and legal standards, through that it should become an efficient tool as an alternative for capital injection. It gives competition to the banking system and contributes to improve banking and financial services. As a result we could have lower interest rates, better control and culture with credits, allowing people and enterprises to obtain credits according to their paying capacity. This paper was developed using an inductive and analytic method, concluding that the factoring service hasn’t had the expected rise or boom in Guayaquil’s market, despite of its attractive characteristics. Nevertheless I’m convinced this type of service should be promoted and developed. The main problem identified in this financial service is the lack of legal, financial and penal structure around it. This has made institutions and businesses that offer this kind of service, to increase service charges, causing a much bigger cost compared to traditional credit offered from financial and banking institutions
