Sin embargo las prótesis removibles convencionales suelen presentar algunos problemas estéticos que no satisfacen las expectativas del paciente, en vista a lo mencionado el objetivo de esta investigación consiste en la rehabilitación de un paciente edéntulo parcial con una prótesis removible en la que exista una armonía estética sin olvidar los aspectos funcionales, buscando resolver las pretensiones de los pacientes en la consulta dental. Partiendo con una revisión bibliográfica en la cual se detalla los materiales, los beneficios y los procedimientos clínicos de una prótesis removible metálica-flexible, seguido por la valoración fotográfica de un caso clínico realizado en el cual se aplicaron los conocimientos adquiridos. Los hallazgos sugieren que la rehabilitación del paciente con una prótesis que usa una estructura metálica ofrece una mejor estabilidad y la estructura flexible brinda todos los beneficios estéticos que otros tipos de prótesis dentales no poseen. En resumen, la mezcla de estos dos materiales en la misma prótesis es la mejor alternativa para resolver los problemas estéticos y de funcionalidad.The absence of dental pieces affects the functions of the stomatognathic system which causes alterations in the chewing process of the patient and thus affecting their nutrition, and the aesthetic. Due to the social context in where we live, the smile is a determinant fact in the personal life of the patient; based on this, in order to return chewing functions, the restorative dentistry, focus the execution of treatments by dentures. However, conventional removable prostheses may show some aesthetic issues that might not fill the patient’s expectations. The purpose of this research is to perform the rehabilitation of a partially edentulous patient with a removable prosthesis in order to have aesthetic harmony. The design of this study is based on a bibliographical review which detailed, the benefits and the clinical procedures of a removable metallic-flexible prosthesis, followed by a photographic evaluation of an already made clinical case in which acquired knowledge was applied. Findings suggest that the patient’s rehabilitation with a prosthesis that use a metallic structure offer better stability and the flexible structure give all the aesthetics benefits that other types of dental prosthesis do not possess. In nutshell, the mixture of these two materials in the same prosthesis make the best alternative to solve the aesthetic and functionality problems.Universidad de Guayaquil.
