En Ecuador la principal fuente de generación de divisas son las exportaciones de materias primas, especialmente petroleras las cuales se vieron mermadas en el 2020 a causa de la fuerte crisis que ocasionó la pandemia, algunos productos tradicionales de exportación como el banano y camarón disminuyeron sus exportaciones, como consecuencia de estas pérdidas la económica ecuatoriana decreció aproximadamente -7% con respecto al año anterior inmediato. Las importaciones de bienes de consumo y de capital también disminuyeron debido a la contracción de la economía y la disminución de la demanda como efecto del confinamiento masivo de la población, poniendo en evidencia la fragilidad de la economía ecuatoriana frente a shocks externoThe health crisis that caused the Covid 19 pandemic had many repercussions in the economic and social sphere of all the countries of the world, the reduction of international trade due to the restrictive measures carried out by governments put the world economy in trouble. In Ecuador, the main source of foreign exchange generation is the export of raw materials, especially oil tankers, which were sirens in 2020 due to the strong crisis caused by the pandemic, some traditional export products such as bananas and shrimp decreased their exports as a consequence of these losses, the Ecuadorian economy decreased approximately -7% with respect to the immediate previous year.
