Las tasas de infección comunicadas con estos catéteres están normalmente bajo 1/1.000 días de catéter y son las más bajas entre todos los dispositivos intravasculares. El diagnóstico de la infección de un CVCLP comienza con el examen físico, buscando un sitio de infección extraluminal en el extremo de salida o en el túnel. El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la prevalencia de infecciones asociadas a catéteres totalmente implantados en pacientes adultos oncológicos del hospital “Julio Villacreses Colmont” de SOLCA Manabí, durante el periodo de Enero a Junio del 2016. Dentro de los resultados obtenidos se determinó la prevalencia de infecciones en el 44% de los pacientes tratados, debido a la presencia de microorganismos como Bacilo Gram (-), Staphilococcus Gram (-), Candida An Hemo X2, Stenotrophomonas Maltoplilia, y Staphilococcus coagulasa (-). Las infecciones encontradas fueron: infecciones del torrente sanguíneo relacionadas a catéteres (ISRC), tromboflebitis séptica e infecciones de la cámara. El tratamiento prescrito consistió en suministrar antibióticos por 48 horas, retiro de catéter, continuidad del antibiótico por 7 días y migración de catéter. Se sugieren lineamientos para la actualización de la guía de procedimientos para sistemas implantados en pacientes oncológicos.Within the long-term central venous catheters (CVCLP) are catheters fully implanted, which are those that place the entire catheter under the surface of the skin, and subcutaneous access through a non-removable Huber needle.
