Studies reveal how the use of techniques and activities that develop critical and creative thinking during reading, improve the ability to solve problems in aspects of daily life. That is, reading that develops these thinking skills not only provides improvements in academic performance but it goes beyond that. During the investigation, it was found that students lost attention while reading due to several reasons, among them, because the activities presented in the readings did not pose a challenge that made them think beyond what the text showed literally. This research project is carried out with the objective of improving the deficiencies that students of Seventh grade of BGE from Unidad Educativa Particular Minerva may demonstrate in the development of these skills, and presents a booklet with proposals for reading activities that stimulate their analysis capacity, create new solutions to problems that appears in the classroom and guide them to improve their thinking abilities. En el aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras, debido a la importancia que tienen las habilidades lectoras en la comunicación, es necesario que los estudiantes continúen mejorándolas constantemente. Estudios revelan cómo el uso de técnicas y actividades que desarrollan el pensamiento crítico y creativo durante la lectura, mejoran la capacidad de resolución de problemas en aspectos de la vida cotidiana. Es decir, la lectura que desarrolla estas habilidades de pensamiento, no sólo proporciona mejoras en el rendimiento académico, sino que va más allá. Durante la investigación, se encontró que los estudiantes perdían la atención mientras leían por varias razones, entre ellas, porque las actividades presentadas en las lecturas no planteaban un desafío que les hiciera pensar más allá de lo que el texto mostraba literalmente. Este proyecto de investigación se realiza con el objetivo de mejorar las deficiencias que pueden presentar los estudiantes de Séptimo grado de BGE de la Unidad Educativa Particular Minerva en el desarrollo de estas habilidades, y presenta un librillo con propuestas de actividades lectoras que estimulen su capacidad de análisis, encontrar nuevas soluciones a los problemas que se presenten en el aula de clases y los orienten a mejorar sus habilidades de pensamiento.Universidad de Guayaquil.
