The research was carried out at the Clemencia Coronel School of Pincay, Ecuador. The type of study was exploratory with a mixed approach, both quantitative and qualitative collection tools such as surveys and interviews were used as the main data collection methods, samples They were the students of the institution and the English teacher of the institution. Surveys conducted with students of the 8th "A" course revealed that a significant portion knew and used ChatGPT, while a majority did not know or did not use this tool. In addition, an interview was carried out with a teacher from the institution, who showed that he had a superficial knowledge of ChatGPT and did not use it in his classes. Given the evident lack of information and use of ChatGPT as an educational tool in learning to write in English, it was decided to develop a practical guide. This guide is designed to instruct students and teachers on how to effectively integrate ChatGPT into their classes and into the process of learning and teaching English writing skills, with the goal of improving mastery and performance in this area. El presente estudio se centró en identificar el uso de ChatGPT para mejorar las habilidades de escritura en inglés de los estudiantes. La investigación se llevó a cabo en el Colegio Clemencia Coronel de Pincay, Ecuador. El tipo de estudio fue exploratorio con un enfoque mixto, se utilizaron como principales métodos de recolección de datos herramientas de recolección tanto cuantitativas como cualitativas como encuestas y entrevistas, las muestras fueron los estudiantes de la institución y el docente de inglés de la institución. Las encuestas realizadas a los estudiantes del 8vo curso “A” revelaron que una porción significativa conocía y utilizaba ChatGPT, mientras que una mayoría no conocía o no utilizaba esta herramienta. Además, se realizó una entrevista a un docente de la institución, quien demostró tener un conocimiento superficial de ChatGPT y no lo utilizaba en sus clases. Ante la evidente falta de información y uso de ChatGPT como herramienta educativa en el aprendizaje de la escritura en inglés, se decidió elaborar una guía práctica. Esta guía está diseñada para instruir a los estudiantes y docentes sobre cómo integrar efectivamente ChatGPT en sus clases y en el proceso de aprendizaje y enseñanza de las habilidades de escritura en inglés, con el objetivo de mejorar el dominio y el desempeño en esta área.Universidad de Guayaquil.
